Meaning of Loy Krathong


The word 'Loy' means 'to float,’ 'Krathong' refers to the beautiful floating baskets. These Krathongs are traditionally made from banana leaves, flowers and candles.

Krathongs will be released into rivers, lakes, or canals. This act symbolizes letting go of negativity and seeking forgiveness from the water goddess, as well as making wishes for the future.
